Interagency Relations

Security and safety at Wayne County Community College District are managed by the District Police Authority, led by the Director of Police Authority and the District's Administration.

Our officers are certified by the State of Michigan and trained according to the Michigan Commission of Law Enforcement Standards (MCOLES). The team includes sworn police officers, police authority officers, and campus safety officers.

The District Police Authority collaborates with the Wayne County Sheriff’s Department, enhancing their capabilities during investigations, arrests, and prosecutions. This partnership grants them full police authority to apprehend individuals involved in illegal activities on any District campus.

For major offenses, the WCCCD Police Authority will notify local municipal police and/or the Wayne County Sheriff, coordinating joint investigative efforts. The Director of Police Authority is responsible for the licensure of all WCCCD officers, including those with arrest authority under MCOLES and Public Act 330.
