WCCCD Chancellor Dr. Curtis Ivery Receives Phi Theta Kappa’s Shirley B. Gordon Award of Distinction

Dr. Curtis L. Ivery, Chancellor of Wayne County Community College District has been awarded the Shirley B. Gordon Award of Distinction from the Phi Theta Kappa Honor Society (PTK). The award is the Society’s highest honor for community college presidents and chancellors. Dr. Ivery will be recognized during PTK Catalyst, PTK’s annual international convention.

Wayne County Community College District’s Curtis L. Ivery Health and Wellness Education Center (CLI HWEC) has been awarded the 2025 Annual MXM Location of Excellence Award, achieving the top distinction among the nearly 900 clubs evaluated nationwide.

Wayne County Community College District (WCCCD) has been ranked among the Top 25 associate degree–producing colleges in the nation, according to a December 2025 report by The EDU Ledger, a leading higher education sector publication that annually ranks the nation’s top institutions awarding degrees to African American students across all disciplines.
