Student Events

Student success is celebrated at the beautiful Heinz C. Prechter Educational and Performing Arts Center with several annual events.

Phi Theta Kappa Induction

The Alpha Upsilon chapter of the Phi Theta Kappa Society welcomes new members at its bi-annual induction ceremony. Phi Theta Kappa (PTK) recognizes the academic achievement of college students and provides opportunities for its members to grow as scholars and leaders.

Established in 1918, Phi Theta Kappa has a presence on almost 1,300 community college campuses in 11 nations. The American Association of Community Colleges (AACC) recognized Phi Theta Kappa as the official honor society for two-year colleges in 1929. More than 3.8 million students have been inducted since 1918, with approximately 250,000 active members in the nation’s community colleges, making Phi Theta Kappa a true catalyst among members and colleges.

For more than 100 years, the Phi Theta Kappa Honor Society has helped millions of high-achieving college students reach their full potential.

Allied Health

Graduates of the District’s various Allied Health programs, including Nursing, Surgical Technician, Practical Nursing, Dental Assisting, Dental Hygiene, and Anesthesia Technology offer pledges to service and receive pins.

Adult Education

Wayne County Community College District’s Adult Education Program prepares students to complete/obtain a secondary credential and help gain access to post-secondary education, training, and support services to succeed in high-demand/high-wage occupations. As these students complete this milestone in their education journey, they are celebrated in a mainstage graduation ceremony.

Honors Convocation
