Surgical Technology

Welcome to the Wayne County Community College District’s Surgical Technology Department.

We hope that you will find the information needed to help you get started in the dynamic surgical tech field.

Surgical technologists, also called operating room technicians, assist in surgical operations. They prepare operating rooms, arrange equipment, and help doctors and nurses during surgeries.

Surgical Technologists are in high demand and are eligible for immediate employment in hospitals, operating rooms, physician offices, surgery centers, labor and delivery, and free-standing minor surgery facilities.
