Larry K. Lewis Education Center (LEC)
The latest addition to the Northwest Campus is the Larry K. Lewis Education Center. The new 90,000 sq. ft. Academic Building houses 31 classrooms, computer labs, a 133-seat lecture hall, and a Media Center. When certified, it is slated to be the first LEED Platinum building in Michigan. It uses geothermal heating/cooling, a “Gray” water system, solar panels for hot water and electricity, and a “Green” roof. The building houses campus administrative offices, including the Office of the President on the second floor and faculty offices on the third floor.
An additional 10 acres of site improvements have been made, including a 380-car parking lot.
