Distance Learning Student Readiness
The Center for Learning Technology – Distance Learning office offers the Distance Learning Student Readiness course, a series of tutorials and resources designed to address the challenges new and experienced online students will encounter.
What is Distance Learning Student Readiness?
As a student at Wayne County Community College District, you have the opportunity to complete the Distance Learning Student Readiness course. The Distance Learning Student Readiness course aims to prepare you to succeed in the classroom and in WCCCD’s online learning environment. The Distance Learning Student Readiness course helps you determine how well you use study skills, navigate technology, and practice academic communication skills.
The Distance Learning Student Readiness course is available to students through WCCCD’s Blackboard Learning Management System. It should take 45 minutes to an hour and includes four graded sections: Online Course Readiness, Technology, Student Resources, and Study Skills.
Whether your courses are online, hybrid, virtual classroom or face-to-face, the skills covered in the Distance Learning Student Readiness course are key to your success!
How to Access the Distance Learning Student Readiness Course on Blackboard
- Start by clicking on Distance Learning Student Readiness to login to Blackboard
- Enter your Blackboard credentials (username and password) to log in.
- Self-Enroll in the Course
- On the self-enrollment page, click Submit to enroll in the Distance Learning Student Readiness course.
- Begin the Course
Once enrolled, navigate to the Course Content section. Open the Welcome Module to start the course and familiarize yourself with key resources and instructions.
After completing the Distance Learning Student Readiness course, students will:
- Better understand what it takes to become a successful online student
- Learn disciplined time management
- Learn how to navigate through the learning management system (Blackboard)
- Discover available resources
- Learn general information about Distance Learning courses
- Send email
- Submit assignments
- Attach, create, modify, and save electronic documents.
