Important Updates

Greetings Student,

Please review the following Financial Aid updates for the Summer 2025 and Fall 2025 semesters with your respective staff members:

  • NEW PROCESS FOR SUMMER FINANCIAL AID APPLICATIONS: You are no longer required to complete a Summer Financial Aid Application for Pell Grants. If eligible, Pell Grants will be awarded automatically on Web-Gate. Reminder, you must complete the 2024-25 FAFSA in order to determine your financial aid eligibility.
  • The Year Round Pell Grant regulation no longer requires students to enroll in a minimum 6 credit hours to be eligible to receive the Year Round Pell Grant during Summer 2025 semester.
  • The Summer Loan Request Form is available now on WCCCD Student Forms and the Federal Work Study application is available on the Financial Aid Forms page.
  • Guest students are not eligible to receive Title IV aid at WCCCD.
  • Satisfactory Academic Progress (SAP) statuses will be updated at the end of Spring 2025 semester for the upcoming Fall 2025 semester for all students. Students who have been approved for academic plans, probation or enrolled in programs 1 year or less in length will also be evaluated at the end of the Spring 2025 semester. Students that choose to utilize a book voucher for Summer semester prior to receiving an updated SAP status for Summer semester, may be financially responsible for their purchases if they are no longer financial aid eligible due to SAP.
  • All state programs (Michigan Reconnect, Futures for Frontliners, TIP and Michigan Achievement Scholarship) are currently being awarded on Web-Gate. You must enroll and meet all eligibility requirements prior to being awarded.
  • During the 2024-25 award year, the Department of Education has reprocessed some FAFSA applications. You are encouraged to monitor Web-Gate messages, Student Requirements and tasks on WCCCD Student Forms to make sure that additional documents have not been requested for submission. This can even occur after you have received a financial aid disbursement and refund. If you fail to submit required documentation, it can result in a reversal of financial aid awards and a balance could be owed.
  • REMINDERS: Federal regulations do not allow payment for courses that do not count toward your declared major. Also federal regulations do not allow payment for courses that are repeated more than once after passing the course.
  • The 2025-26 FAFSA is available on https://studentaid.gov for students that plan to enroll for the 2025-26 academic year. Please be prepared and start early for the next school year!
  • The deadline to submit all documents for the 2024-25 award year is JULY 15, 2025. Review Web-Gate and WCCCD Student Forms frequently to ensure that all of your document requirements have been submitted prior to the deadline.
