Associate of General Studies
An Associate of General Studies degree provides students a general liberal arts education that prepares them for a bachelor’s degree program at a four-year college or university. The Wayne County Community College District (WCCCD) Associate of General Studies program provides students with a foundational education across a wide range of areas.
The program is designed for students who plan to major in areas of higher learning: humanities, natural sciences, mathematics, social sciences, and fine arts. It is also for students preparing for professional programs in law, journalism, business administration, teaching and computer information systems.
What’s Required to Complete the Associate of General Studies Program?
An Associate of Arts (AGS) from WCCCD requires 60 total credits. As an AGS student at WCCCD, you’ll take general education courses.
Some students plan to transfer to a four-year college or university after earning their AGS. If that’s your goal, you might choose specific courses. Talk with your advisor about a personalized plan that meets your goals.
