Surgical Technology: Central Service Technician

The Surgical Technology curriculum is designed to enable you to perform various duties and provide technical support to the surgical team in the operating room before, during, and after surgery. The central service technician is responsible for procuring surgical supplies and equipment. Central Service Technicians are directly responsible for decontaminating, cleaning, processing, assembly, sterilizing, storing, and distributing sterile surgical instrumentation and supplies. They may also support all patient care services requiring sterile supplies.  

Central Service Technicians work in the following facilities:

  • General medical and surgical hospitals
  • Outpatient care centers 
  • Physician offices
  • Colleges, universities, and professional schools

The Surgical Technology: Central Service Technician Program is offered at our Northwest Campus. As a WCCCD student, you can take prerequisite courses, use facilities, and get involved at any of our six locations.
