Hotel and Restaurant Management

The Wayne County Community College District (WCCCD) Hotel and Restaurant Management faculty goes above and beyond to help build your credibility and equip you with the skills to learn how to manage a world-class operation with a foundation in essential industry best practices and skills.

Our program offers specialized knowledge of the hospitality industry, from the front of the house to the back, and equips you with the skills necessary to gain a firm grasp on finance, marketing, and employee management. The Hotel and Restaurant Management Program is designed to prepare students for various positions across the hospitality industry. 

A certificate in Hotel and Restaurant Management from WCCCD prepares you for work across various roles such as:

  • Food service manager
  • Lodging manager 

What’s the Job Outlook for Hotel and Restaurant Managers?

Employment of lodging managers is projected to grow 1 percent from 2018 to 2028, slower than average for all occupations. Applicants with a college degree in hotel or hospitality management are expected to have the best job opportunities. Employment of food service managers is projected to grow 11 percent from 2018 to 2028, about as fast as the average for all occupations. Jobseekers with long-term work experience in food service and a degree in hospitality, restaurant, or food service management will have the best job opportunities.

Where is WCCCD’s Hotel and Restaurant Management Program Offered?

The Hotel and Restaurant Management program is offered at our Downriver Campus. The campus also offers classes for other hospitality-related certificates and degrees. 

As a WCCCD student, you can take courses, use facilities, and get involved at any of our six locations.
