Fashion Design
Whether your interest is designing for high fashion, sportswear, or loungewear, drawing with pencil or via computer-aided design (CAD) are tools of the trade along with sewing, understanding textiles, and color and design theory. The Fashion Design program allows you to take your passion for drawing and design and turn it into a career through either a 5-semester certification or an Associate of Applied Science degree.
What’s the Job Outlook for Fashion Designers positions?
The employment of fashion designers is projected to grow by 3 percent from 2022 to 2032, which is about average for all occupations. The increased demand for a constant flow of new fashion designs has been accelerated by social media influencers and by retailers advertising and selling directly to consumers online. Growing consumer preference for sustainable options in the fashion industry has also created a desire for designs that use eco- and vegan-friendly materials. However, there will be fewer opportunities for self-employed fashion designers, who are unable to compete with large-scale clothing production, limiting the overall employment growth of these workers.
