Computer Informations Systems: Mobile Application Developer
The Computer Information Systems: Application Developer certificate is designed to prepare students for mobile application developer career positions or as entrepreneurs in mobile application development. Students will gain a technical foundation in designing, developing, implementing, and marketing simple business or personal solutions through mobile applications. The student completing this program can publish his or her application in the APP Store.
What Do Application Developers Do?
Application Developers design, develop, create, and modify general computer application software or specialized utility programs. They write code to create application programs, analyze user needs, and build software solutions. Developers turn existing program designs into instructions that a computer can follow by planning the program, creating models and flowcharts detailing how the code is to be written, writing and debugging code, and designing user/system interfaces.
They design program applications or customize software for client use to optimize operational efficiency. Some mobile applications are relatively simple and usually take a few days to write, while others may be a little complex. Developers must understand complex instructions to create necessary code and be able to work at a computer, writing lines of code for long periods. They must also closely examine the code for errors and fix any they find to produce the expected results.
Where Do They Work?
Application Developers work in a variety of industries. They work independently in offices or their respective homes. Many usually work in offices in the computer systems design and related services industry. Application Developers also work as programmers with other computer specialists on large projects. As writing code can be done anywhere, many developers telecommute.
What’s the Job Outlook for Application Developers?
Employment for software developers, including application developers, is projected to grow 25% from 2022 to 2032, reflecting strong demand for new software and applications across various industries. As businesses and organizations continue to rely on mobile technology, the need for skilled application developers is expected to increase, particularly for those who can design innovative solutions for mobile platforms.
